Meet the Nutrient Use Efficiency People™: Phil Frost

Phil Frost has a deep understanding of what it means to own your land and to run a farm. He did both in his native Zimbabwe before he and his family were forced to flee due to political turmoil, leaving his homeland, farm and native soil behind.

“It’s almost impossible to describe how terrifying that was for my family,” says Phil. “But we were grateful. We had each other.”

Phil may have put Zimbabwe behind him, but he did not put his love of agriculture – and teaching – in the rearview mirror. After all, in Zimbabwe, Phil founded two agricultural startups where rural farmers were taught conservation agriculture practices and food provision. Once in the United States, Phil served as director of research and development at Integrity Propagation in Chatsworth, NJ, prior to joining Verdesian Life Sciences.

Today, as technical development manager for Verdesian Life Sciences, Phil educates on nutritional and plant health products for ag retailers in California, Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Colorado.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to share what I know and love about farming,” he says. “Efficient and effective farming practices are in my blood; it’s what I’m deeply passionate about. In my role at Verdesian, I am able to share that knowledge and passion to those who care about where food comes from and the sustainable practices behind it.”

Phil holds a Master’s in Professional Studies in International Agriculture and Rural Development and a Master’s of Science in Agronomy with a focus on Soil Health, both from Cornell University. He also earned his MBA from Oxford Brooke’s University (Damelin Administered).
