That means people who work in agriculture there must be well-versed on all types of crops, terrains, products, and timings that go along with such variety. Phil Shelley is one such person.

Today, Phil serves Verdesian Life Sciences as an account manager for the Southeast (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and the Carolinas) for the company’s Seed Treatments & Inoculants division. But Phil, who lives in Dothan, AL, brings wide expertise in ag to his job – and to his customers.

“I have been involved and around ag all my life,” says Phil, who grew up on a peanut, cattle and poultry farm in southeast Alabama. “I was influenced by dedicated, hardworking, honest and caring people early in life, and am still blessed to work with the same caliber of people today.”

Phil came to Verdesian in 2015 after working in different parts of the ag world. He boasts more than 35 years of agribusiness experience – and 37 years of marriage to his wife and best friend, Jan.

“Verdesian brings the same values as mentioned earlier,” says Phil. “It is a pleasure to work for a company that strives to produce excellent products, for a management team that takes a personal interest in their team of sales and support, and for a company willing to work with the sales team by going the extra mile to give our clients an exceptional service experience.”

A Certified Crop Advisor, Phil received his bachelor’s degree in Agronomy from Auburn; he is an avid Tigers fan who enjoys Auburn basketball and football. His son Tanner, and his daughter-in-law Amelia are also ag graduates from Auburn. When he’s not working, Phil enjoys spending time on the lake boating and fishing – and working in a dove shoot from time to time.
