Customer Service Specialist (Cary, NC)

This position reports to the Customer Service Manager and is responsible for providing Professional customer service and ensuring the organization understands and adheres to its customer’s requirements.  This position will be the key liaison between Verdesian and its customers and will ensure the order process is executed accurately, including receiving the order, order entry, establishing available-to-promise via current inventory or production, order shipment and tracking, order delivery, and customer invoicing; all while keeping internal and external parties apprised of the order status.  This position will also take the lead to ensure customer issues are discerned, documented, resolved, and communicated effectively internally and with the customer.  

Responsibilities:

  • Front Line Customer contact that ensures the order process is executed timely and accurately.  Steps include 1) Acknowledging receipt of Customer Purchase Orders (POs) within one hour of receipt; 2) Entering order into ERP system before close of business the day the customer PO is received; 3) Establishing estimated ship date based on current inventory or production plan; and 4) Ensure Order shipment and tracking, order delivery, and customer invoicing within 24 hours of shipment
  • Maintain accurate estimated Ship Dates for orders by communicating and coordinating with the Site Production and Logistics Coordinator as well as Production Distribution Planner to define date based on input supply and the production schedule
  • Effectively implement pricing and programs to ensure accurate execution of invoicing customers
  • Properly enter new customer ship-to information for existing customers to support an accurate order-to Invoice process
  • Ensure properly labeled product is shipped to our customers based on the state regulatory label requirements
  • Provide real time feedback and input to Site Production and Logistics Coordinator and/or Production Distribution Planner on changes in customer product requirements
  • Coordinate logistics with public warehouses and manufacturing sites which includes coordinating daily shipping with Third Party Logistics Provider, printing bill of lading, and sending shipment releases to warehouses and/or manufacturing sites
  • Communicate any product shortages to the Production Distribution Planner and work with the operations team on issue resolution and contingency planning
  • Provide weekly updates on the status of open orders and invoice orders within 24 hours of shipment
  • Ensure prompt resolution for all customer issues by working with appropriate department to identify root cause and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
  • Provide support to Inventory Control Manager and Account Receivable Specialist for inventory reconciliation and customer billing questions or issues
  • Actively participate in efforts with commercial, operations, and finance by continually providing customer feedback to enable Verdesian to meet both the customer’s and business’ needs
  • Oversees and facilitates daily logistics activities and grants approvals for requested spends for expedited shipments requested by sales, customer service, or plant facilities

Technical Sales Representative (California, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Dakotas)

Position summary: The Technical Sales Representative (TSR) will be responsible for prospecting, acquiring, and building Verdesian’s base of retailers within an assigned territory selling nutritional and polymer products, including servicing and training potential/newly acquired retailers on product benefits and usage. TSR sales efforts to be supported by strategic marketing plans and product trainings.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Drive business growth in assigned region calling on and building business with new retailers, establishing a recurring book of business, to achieve territory revenue and profit targets
  • Own the entire sales cycle from cold calling and initial retailer engagement to selling products and managing the retailer
  • Maintain a high-level of product knowledge & develop strong relationships to become a consultant with prospective/acquired retailers overcoming market challenges and positioning the value of Verdesian products
  • Develop business plans to strategically target retailers in assigned territory forecasting future sales and budgets
  • Leverage and execute lead generation campaigns and research trials as appropriate
  • Structure weekly/monthly sales efforts to achieve business plans and territory target
  • Anticipate retailer and territory needs regularly engaging marketing, customer service, and other departments to share market trends and prepare for future territory growth
  • Understand and deploy a working knowledge of EPA and state regulations
  • Facilitate business relationships contributing to public relations
  • Lead participation of Verdesian efforts in local trade shows and events
  • Populate customer relationship management (CRM) tool on weekly basis

Qualifications:

  • Minimum work experience of 5 years full time exempt sales experience in Agriculture industry
  • Minimum education of BA or BS degree in Agriculture related field
  • PCA License required for Technical Sales positions in California

Technical Sales Representative (Central Valley area of California)

This position is responsible for developing a solid base of retail dealers and sales according to the established marketing plan of Verdesian and the service and training of potential clients in the use of VLS products within the assigned territory.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Establish and incorporate routed sales calls within assigned territory
  • Develop clientele base of customers, dealers, and clients
  • Anticipate customer needs and contact regularly with appropriate communication
  • Increase sales to attain maximum market penetration for appropriate VLS products
  • Possess a working knowledge of EPA and state registrations
  • Cooperate with Field Research team in assigned territory
  • Facilitate business relationships contributing to public relations
  • Forecast and develop budget for sales
  • Maintain a clean driving record, and ability to travel long distances

Technical Development Manager (Central Valley area of California)

This position is responsible for providing technical support, guidance, field trial demonstrations and training for Verdesian’s sales representatives and customers.  The Technical Development Manager assumes responsibility and leadership for all technical elements (labels, product use direction, training materials, recommendations, field trials, and technical positioning of VLSCI products) for his/her assigned territory. The person is accountable for technical support of the Verdesian nutritional and plant health product line to the Verdesian Sales reps and customers with the objective of meeting or exceeding established sales goals while reducing liability costs and maintaining the technical integrity of product positions. The Technical Development Manager is responsible for ensuring that Marketing, Sales, and Product Development are in alignment for the area in which they support. Regular interaction with marketing, product development, sales, and regulatory is critical. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the technical strategy and feasibility for VLS products and technologies within assigned territory
  • Business-to-business technical leadership in interactions with Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Product Development and customers
  • Technical assessment and sustainable technical recommendations for assigned products and their positioning, labeling and for inclusion in business plans
  • Technical training and direction to VLSCI sales representatives and staff on all data generation
  • Technical liaison between the sales team and VLSCSI customers
  • Oversee, track and benchmark the field development of proprietary and licensed technologies within assigned territory
  • Be a core member of a product/program/concept development team
  • Identify, inspect and liaise with 3rd-party research firms and personnel and collate, analyze, and summarize relevant data for development and/or commercial use
  • Responsible for technical elements (labels, technical editing, product use direction, training materials, recommendations, and technical positioning) of VLS products and technologies
  • Identification, prioritization, and pursuit of new opportunities (label improvements, Sec 18s & 24c, 2ee and label extensions)
  • Assistance/leadership in dealing with alleged product claims
  • Responsible for all field trial development (customer and University) and corresponding data generation within assigned portfolio/territory

Qualifications:

  • Minimum work experience of 10 years in technical sales/agronomist role
  • Minimum education of MS degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, or related field (Ph.D. preferred)
  • 50% travel requirements
  • Pest Control Advisor (PCA) Certification License required
  • Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) License preferred

Lab Technician (Raleigh-Durham, NC)

This position will provide technical skills in the laboratory and greenhouse settings by performing and reporting on research studies dealing with plant nutritional research. You will be part of an innovative team responsible for the exploration and advancement of new technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Establish and grow plants in controlled growth chamber and greenhouse environments
  • Maintain inventory and ship hazardous and non-hazardous research materials
  • Monitor and maintain controlled environmental systems, including rotational weekends
  • Design and implement experiments investigating plant nutritional products
  • Engineer testing apparatuses for experimental investigations
  • Working knowledge of laboratory equipment including ICP, FIA, HPLC, and gas monitoring equipment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to accomplish goals and support business
  • Provide technical support and data for intellectual property and patent filings

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of prior experience in Lab/ Greenhouse environment
  • Minimum education of BS degree in Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology or related field

Criteria:

  • Experience growing corn, soybeans, and wheat in greenhouse/growth chamber conditions
  • Experience operating and maintaining HPLC, ICP, and greenhouse equipment
  • Familiarity with agrichemical products
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word. Worked with ARM (agricultural research manager) program helpful
